Quebec Hydro - Positions to Block Lower Churchill Development

The following report was issued by VOCM News this morning.

Premier Ready to Square off with Quebec Hydro

The Premier is gearing up for another fight on the national stage.

Danny Williams says Hydro Quebec continues to try and block this province from developing the Lower Churchill, now refusing to sign onto a water management agreement for the Churchill River in Labrador.

Speaking to a sold out crowd last evening at the PC Party's annual convention, Williams says the issue came to a head Friday and he's setting his sights on the mainland power utility as the issue moves to the Public Utility Board.

In light of the profits pulled by the company on the Upper Churchill, The Premier describes the actions as 'the pure heights of greed.'

The Quebec power company is also reported to be taking over New Brunswick Hydro, Williams says, to get a strangle-hold on route access. He says while there is nothing he can do about that possibility, he offers New Brunswick some words of caution. The short term gains could have long term consequences of giving up energy resources . He warns our experiences have not been good in dealings with the powerful Hydro Quebec.

Well patriot they say that no news is Good new. At the worst of times, yeah, I would agree, but for this news I would have to turn myself into a Liar. I think this is fantastic. By Hydro-Quebec taking such action it brings to light how Newfoundland and Labrador has been royally screwed by Canada.

When the Charter came from dear old England we signed it and embraced it because we signed onto Canada and the Canadian dream. The same cannot be said for Quebec. Newfoundland and Labrador believed in the dream of one country and that “Province & Province“ should come first in order to build this nation Called Canada. Quebec did not. Yet, it was Newfoundland and Labrador that paid the deepest price fro this fairy tale dream. Quebec and Quebecers alike have shown us that this constitution isn’t worth the paper it is written on, if it was the Law of the land would have been up held and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador would have been able to sell its power to the United Sates or any other Province for that matter.

We as Newfoundlanders and Labradoreans now know the true face of Canada and its dirty lie’s. We are nothing to them but food for their gang like mentality. Only to be used for a lifestyle that they cannot pay for. A life style that has been paid for by many Canadians, but mostly by Newfoundland and poor Labrador.

All I have to say is be enough is enough. The lower Church Hill should still be developed. We still need to shut down Holyrood and all that Oil burning. But, like I have stated many times on your Blog Myles. Its time for us as a nation to wake up and realize that Canada is nothing but a dream that is doomed to die.
